Until last night, THE RAPTURE was only a band I used to listen to when I was a teenager. But from now it will also be a great movie starring Mimi Rogers and David Duchovny. Released in 1991, The Rapture didn’t become a box-office success and it is not difficult to figure out why. The film is said to “go places movies seldom dare to go” and after watching it I can only agree.

Don’t be fooled by the numerous sex scenes and the promotional poster. This isn’t a movie about sex. This is a movie about being human and accepting it. Let me also say that Mimi Rogers is amazing in this movie. She is known by most as the original “Mrs. Tom Cruise” and it is very sad that she is such an underrated actress. I loved her in Cimino’s Desperate Hours and she was also great in Ridley Scott’s Somebody to watch over me. Give Mimi a chance !
